The short answer

  • Express: order by Saturday, 7 August 2027.
  • Standard: order by Saturday, 31 July 2027.
  • UK: write the full postcode. Canada: the six-character postal code and the province.

Getting a rakhi to the UK or Canada works much like the USA: express takes 4 to 6 working days from Jaipur, standard 8 to 12, plus a day for packing.

The dates for 2027

Express4 to 6 working daysSaturday, 7 August 2027
Standard8 to 12 working daysSaturday, 31 July 2027

In the UK, Raksha Bandhan is usually observed on the same day as India. In Canada, as in the US, several panchangs give 16 August because of the time difference. The dates above work for both.

Addressing the parcel

  • UK: the full postcode, both parts with a space between, matters more than the street name. Add a flat number if there is one.
  • Canada: include the province and the six-character postal code.
  • Both: add a local phone number so the courier can call.

What to pack

Rakhis, a small sealed packet of roli-chawal, a card and sealed chocolates are the safest combination. Leave out homemade sweets and anything with fresh dairy. If you want to send something more, a hand block printed dupatta is light, flat and travels well.
